Presence Yoga, CA
Why is breathing so important in Yoga?
When do we inhale and when do we exhale?
What is the purpose of the poses?
What is the connection between the poses and spiritual growth?
Why is Yoga so effective for anxiety and depression?
These questions, and more, are skillfully addressed in each class.

Presence yoga emphasizes yoga’s vast potential as a holistic, transformative discipline that works on every aspect of our being. Classes include a thoughtful and time-honored array of tools, such as carefully sequenced postures linked with focused breathing exercises, yogic philosophy, and meditations, that all support us in our path toward wellness and peace of mind.
Classical Hatha Yoga Classes start with a few words on yogic philosophy, before moving into Yoga warm-ups for the spine, variations on the classic sun salutation, and balancing poses. The connection between movement and breath is always emphasized. Classes end traditionally with cooling savasana, or reclining meditation, which Donna often leads with enjoyable visualizations.
Presence Yoga classes acknowledge yoga's effectiveness as a counter to problems with anxiety. Having written on the subject, as well as having worked directly with anxiety-related conditions, the subject is competently explored by the teacher.
Practicing Yoga reveals and develops the body's ability to move, balance, and strengthen, and nurtures the mind as much as the body. It encourages better focus, releases tension, and fosters a positive, "can-do" feeling that takes us sailing past our prior, limiting tendencies and beliefs. The result is a revitalizing inner sense of awakening, and sense of connection.
Non-competitive, mixed level classes for men and women of all levels, and ages. Sensitive to special needs and injuries.
