Bio of Donna Quesada

Donna's own practice of Yoga began in 1990 at the Golden Bridge with Kundalini Yoga. Having continued in the tradition of Kundalini at other studios, she is fortunate to be able to count the renowned Guru Singh as a teacher. Through the years, Donna trained with important teachers from other traditions in yoga, and has studied directly with T.K.V. Desikachar, son of India's legendary yogi, Krishnamacharya.

Donna was eventually certified by Samata International Yoga & Health Institute to teach, after completing advanced training in Yoga therapy with Larry Payne Ph.D., who was a direct disciple of Krishnamacharya. Dr. Payne is also the founding president of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), and besides his well-known DVD series, has authored many books and articles on Yoga, including Yoga RX, and Yoga for Dummies.

Donna has supplemented her certification with teacher-training workshops in other areas and traditions, most notably, Mat Pilates, in which she holds certification. She is also a longtime practitioner of Zen Buddhism, in the Japanese lineage of Taizan Maezumi Roshi, and teaches eastern philosophy, yoga and meditation at Santa Monica College, where she's been on faculty for 14 years.

Aside from teaching, Donna writes on topics ranging from music to meditation, and recently had an article published in Buddhadharma magazine on the subject of OCD. She is currently working on her first book. Donna is also an enthusiast of languages, and is fluent
in French and Spanish. Other interests include waterpainting and animal welfare.
